April 2018 Meeting Minutes

    CAHRA Monthly Meeting – April 19, 2018

    There were 16 members and 3 guests in attendance at the February meeting.  The meeting was held at Valentino’s Restaurant in Columbus. 

    TREASURER’S REPORT

    • The Treasurer report for March is attached. 

       

      PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Presented by Shawna Hilbert, Vice President

    • A motion was made to approve the minutes from the March meeting by Deb Hamling seconded by Ashley Schumacher.    
    • At the March meeting, Amanda mentioned an initiative to provide a program such as HR 101 and target small businesses around the Columbus area.  This meeting will be in October.  Stay tuned for further details.
    • Nebraska SHRM State Conference is scheduled for August 23rd and 24th at the La Vista Conference Center.  Make plans now to attend. 
    • As was done in 2017, we will continue to offer an incentive to increase participation.  Every time you attend a CAHRA Meeting, serve as a Committee Chair or as an Officer, your name will go into a drawing to be held later on in the year.  If your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your SHRM State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it.    

       

      LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORT – Scott Messersmith

    • The legislative report from Chad Richter is attached.    

       

      SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT – Heidi Elliott

    • No report

       

      MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT - Theresa Black and Nicole Kracl

    • The community outreach meeting that we are planning for October where we’ll  invite smaller business that maybe don’t have a designated HR department will hopefully boost our membership. 

       

      PROGRAMS – Jon Rauner & Kara Asmus

    • The April program, “Retaining Key Employees” was presented by Carl Zeutzius from UNICO.    A huge thank you to Brian Chohon from Great Plains State Bank for sponsoring our April Meeting.   

    CERTIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

    • In order to retain your certification, members are responsible for entering their own certification credits for SHRM and HRCI.  Certificates were provided at the meeting for those in attendance.

       

      SOCIAL MEDIA AND PUBLIC RELATIONS – Kristel Hall

    • No report.
