February 2018 Meeting Minutes

    CAHRA Monthly Meeting – February 15, 2018

There were 21 members and 2 guests in attendance at the February meeting.  The meeting was held at Valentino’s Restaurant in Columbus.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Presented by Amanda Henry

    • A motion was made to approve the minutes from the January meeting by Scott Messersmith, seconded by Tammy Orender.
    • Amanda brought up the new membership fee structure, noting that the change was necessary due to losing money every time we had a meeting.  There were no questions brought forward from the group.
    • CAHRA will continue to do Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity.  Members take turns one Monday a month to deliver meals to shut-ins around the Columbus area.  Snacks are delivered to the Habitat for Humanity work site.  If you’d like to volunteer for either of these events, please let Amanda Henry or Kathryn Ackman know.
    • SHRM Leadership Conference was held in Lincoln on January 25th and 26th.  Jon Rauner attended the conference and had nothing but great things to say.  He said one of his takeaways was on the topic of Psychological Safety and ensuring your employees have the freedom to discuss topics without fear of discipline or retaliation.  As always, this was a great event.

      Standing reminders:

    • Nebraska SHRM State Conference is scheduled for August 23rd and 24th at the La Vista Conference Center.  Make plans now to attend.
    • As was done in 2017, we will continue to offer an incentive to increase participation.  Every time you attend a CAHRA Meeting, serve as a Committee Chair or as an Officer, your name will go into a drawing to be held later on in the year.  If your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your SHRM State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it.

TREASURER’S REPORT – Presented by Doris Wemhoff (see attached).

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORT – Scott Messersmith
