    • Amanda announced that Jon Rauner was the winner of the State HR Conference which will be held 8/23-24 at LaVista.  There will not be a CAHRA meeting in August, to allow members to attend the State Conference.
    • Amanda reported that changes to the CAHRA bylaws are ready for review and are being reviewed by the Board.
    • CAHRA continues to make plans for our large event in October which will be free and open to the public.  The event will target small businesses in and around the Columbus area.  We are planning a morning session on October 18th which will include three 1-hour sessions so that participants can participate in as much or as little as they choose.  Plans are to host the meeting at CCC.  We’ll be able to finalize our plans pending results from the survey which was sent out by the Chamber.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORTPresented by Michelle Meyer for Scott Messersmith

    • Someone asked about ADA compliance for websites at the last meeting.  Michelle reported that “even though the DOJ said they are no longer putting forth specific regulations for ADA compliance, companies must still ensure their websites are ADA accessible”.
    • A current Legislative Director Update is attached.

    • Congratulations goes out to Teresa Black, winner of the SHRM CP Certification Scholarship.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT - Teresa Black and Nicole Kracl

    • Teresa reported that SHRM members who don’t live locally will also be invited to the September Meeting.

    • The July meeting has been approved for CEUs.  Certificates were available at the meeting.
    • In order to retain your certification, members are responsible for entering their own certification credits for SHRM and HRCI.  If you need certification credits, please contact Andra Vandenberg at .

    • Based on a suggestion from Amanda at the last meeting, Kristel will be creating a private page on our website for CAHRA members to post questions or comments.  Kristel reported an uptick in views on the CAHRA webpage based on some photos that were posted.
    • As was done in 2017, we will continue to offer incentives to increase participation.  We are recording every time you “Like” or “Share” a Facebook post on the CAHRA Page.  Your name then goes into a drawing to be held later on in the year.  The same is true for every time you attend a CAHRA Meeting or serve as a Committee Chair or as an Officer.  If your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your SHRM State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it.

PROGRAMS – Jon Rauner & Kara Asmus

    • Angela Korth, Business Account Manager from Nebraska VR presented a very informative program, “Building An Inclusive Workplace – Disability Awareness and Etiquette”.
    • Jeremy Stanislav, Executive Director of Sammy’s Superheroes also was present to speak about the Sammy’s Superheroes Foundation.  Jeremy’s goal is to build a strong foundation that will fund researchers who are looking for modern treatments that are specific to the needs of children and adolescents who are still in the developing stages of their lives.

      Respectfully submitted,

      Michelle Meyer

      CAHRA Secretary
