June 2017 Meeting Minutes

    CAHRA Monthly Meeting – June 15, 2017

    There were 33 people in attendance at the June meeting; 20 members and 13 guests. 


    A motion to approve the minutes from the May Meeting with no corrections was made by Scott Messersmith and seconded by Jon Rauner.  


    The Treasurer’s Report from May was presented by Amanda Henry.

    PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Amanda Henry

    • CAHRA is working on obtaining a badge certification for Aging Workforce through SHRM Foundation.
    • Facebook page is now live; need to put information on it.  Please forward ideas to Kristel Hall.
    • One final quiz to help members win a free SHRM State Conference pass.  Due at July meeting. (Attached)
    • Registration is now open for the Nebraska SHRM State Conference which is scheduled for August 24-25 in La Vista.   For more details, visit .
    • Habitat for Humanity will  be July 15.  If you’d like to volunteer, contact Amanda Henry at .
    • CAHRA has a generic email address.  It is
    • Time Management “Social” to be held late November or early December.


    Scott Messersmith stated that session is now closed and only item of discussion is employers of health care industries need to provide on-site vaccinations for flu and pneumonia.  Updated summary provided by SHRM State Legislative Chair, Chad Richter, is attached.


    Scholarship Recipients announced- Gabrielle Paczosa and Perla Campuzano. Gabrielle is from Bellwood and plans to continue her studies in HR at UNO.  Perla is from Schuyler and is majoring in business at Wayne.  Each winner will receive $500 toward their eligible educational expenses.  15 applications were received this year.

    In order to retain your certification, members are responsible for entering their own certification credits for SHRM and HRCI.  Certificates were available at the June meeting for those in attendance.

     “Keeping The Good Ones” was presented by Elizabeth Smith from  Central Community College was sponsored by Advance Services, Inc.

    Reminder:  As an incentive to attend CAHRA Meetings and join a committee, every time you attend a CAHRA meeting your name will go into the hat and if you are an officer or serve as a committee chairperson, your name will be put in as well.  Other opportunities, such as the quiz, may be offered during the year.  All names will go into a drawing and if your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it. 

    Members are encouraged to bring a guest to the monthly meetings.  Guests who attend three CAHRA meetings throughout the year will automatically become a CAHRA member for the remainder of the year at no additional charge.
