In Amanda’s absence, Shawna reminded those who completed the Quiz that was sent out at the last meeting should turn those in.    Those who turned in answers to the quiz back will get their name in the drawing and if your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your SHRM State Conference Registration fee.  The SHRM State Conference is scheduled for August 24-25 in La Vista.

Plans are underway for a CAHRA Social to be held this summer.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Stay tuned for more details!

Shawna reminded us that CAHRA will have a table at the Columbus Job Fair which is scheduled for May 17th and sponsored by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce.  We’re looking for volunteers to review resumes and provide interview tips.  Please contact any of the CAHRA Officers if you’re interested in volunteering and helping out.

If you have any recommendations for the CAHRA website , please contact Kristel Hall at .

As an incentive to attend CAHRA Meetings and join a committee, every time you attend a CAHRA meeting your name will go into the hat and if you are an officer or serve as  a committee chairperson, your name will be put in as well.  Other opportunities, such as the quiz, may be offered during the year.  All names will go into a drawing and if your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it.

Members are encouraged to bring a guest to the monthly meetings.  Guests who attend three CAHRA meetings throughout the year will automatically become a CAHRA member for the remainder of the year at no additional charge.

In order to retain your certification, members are responsible for entering their own certification credits for SHRM and HRCI.  Information will be provided at the meetings.  Deb Hamling and Andra Vandenberg are working together on this project and certificates will be sent out for meetings attended in 2016 and thus far in 2017.

    No report.

A very informative presentation on “Top 10 Labor & Employment Law Items Employers Should Consider in 2017” was presented by Chad Richter and Christopher Hoyme from Jackson Lewis.  The presentation highlighted changes that might be expected following the change in leadership after the Presidential Election last November.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 20 at 11:30am at Valentino’s.  The April meeting, “Work Comp” which will be presented by Paul Larson of Larson, Kuper, Wenninghoff & Carney will be sponsored by Aureus Medical Group.

If you have a suggestion for a topic for future programs, please contact Jon Rauner at

    Respectfully submitted,
