March 2018 Meeting Minutes

    CAHRA Monthly Meeting – March 15, 2018

There were 20 members and 2 guests in attendance at the February meeting.  The meeting was held at Valentino’s Restaurant in Columbus.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Presented by Amanda Henry

    • A motion was made to approve the minutes from the February meeting by Tammy Orender, seconded by Jon Rauner.
    • Amanda mentioned an initiative to provide a program such as HR 101 and target small businesses around the Columbus area.
    • CAHRA will continue to do Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity.  Members take turns one Monday a month to deliver meals to shut-ins around the Columbus area.  Snacks will be delivered to the Habitat for Humanity work site on May 5th.  If you’d like to volunteer for either of these events, please let Amanda Henry or Kathryn Ackman know.
    • The CAHRA group would like to apply for a SHRM Award.  We’ll need to set and achieve a goal.  It was recommended to set a goal to increase our membership.    Some discussion was held and will continue at the next meeting.

      Standing reminders:

    • Nebraska SHRM State Conference is scheduled for August 23rd and 24th at the La Vista Conference Center.  Make plans now to attend.
    • As was done in 2017, we will continue to offer an incentive to increase participation.  Every time you attend a CAHRA Meeting, serve as a Committee Chair or as an Officer, your name will go into a drawing to be held later on in the year.  If your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your SHRM State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it.
