      PRESIDENT’S REPORTAmanda Henry, President

    • A motion was made to approve the minutes from the April meeting by Tammy Orender and seconded by Shawna Hilbert.
    • Amanda reported that the SHRM Foundation will donate $495 toward a SHRM CP Certification.  There were a few members interested in this so we’ll attach the application to the minutes.  All Applications need to be turned in by June 21st, which is also the next CAHRA meeting.
    • Further discussion was held regarding our HR 101 Event which will be free and open to the public, targeting small businesses in and around the Columbus area.  We are tentatively planning a morning session which will include three 1-hour sessions so that participants can participate in as much or as little as they choose.  This meeting will be in October.  Stay tuned for further details.
    • Amanda recently delivered snacks to the Habitat For Humanity site.  Look for pictures on our Facebook Page.
    • Grant Otten from Columbus News Team recently had a discussion with Jon Rauner regarding doing a Community Spotlight on CAHRA.  It will be a 5-10 minute interview with a few different CAHRA members and will be free.  We will most likely use the platform to advertise the October meeting as well.
    • A representative from CAHRA will be on the Columbus Public High Advisory Board.  The Board includes other business leaders in the community and teachers.
    • The Nebraska SHRM State Conference is scheduled for August 23rd and 24th at the La Vista Conference Center.  Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss this awesome event!

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE REPORTPresented by Michelle Meyer for Scott Messersmith

    • The legislative report from Chad Richter will be attached to the minutes.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT - Teresa Black and Nicole Kracl

    • Teresa welcomed guests and new members to the meeting.

CERTIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – Andra Vandenberg

    • In order to retain your certification, members are responsible for entering their own certification credits for SHRM and HRCI.  If you need certification credits, please contact Andra Vandenberg at andra@bchccnet.org .

SOCIAL MEDIA AND PUBLIC RELATIONS – Kristel Hall

    • As was done in 2017, we will continue to offer incentives to increase participation.  We are reviewing at every time you “Like” or “Share” a Facebook post on the CAHRA Page, your name will go into a drawing to be held later on in the year.  The same is true for every time you attend a CAHRA Meeting or serve as a Committee Chair or as an Officer.  If your name is drawn, CAHRA will pay your SHRM State Conference Registration fee if your employer will not pay for it.

PROGRAMS – Jon Rauner & Kara Asmus

    • The May program, “Successfully Managing Change” was presented by Mike Henke from Mike Henke, Inc.  A huge thank you to Heidi Isley and Chantal Hiatt from Associated Staffing for sponsoring our May Meeting.

    Respectfully submitted,

    Michelle Meyer
